Stabilisation of a major landslide in Théoule sur mer (France)

Following exceptional rainfalls during the winter period, a landslide occurred in the town of Théoule-sur-Mer (south of France), and covered part of the local cemetery. The importance of the sliding volume, about 40,000 m3, and the safety issues on the road and for the local population required emergency reinforcement.

Within the framework of the legal expertise, TERRASOL was appointed Project Manager fir the reinforcement work. The works consisted in:

  • unloading the ridge of the landslide by creating berms;
  • restoring drainage by deep spurs and implementation of a base stop mask and a peripheral ditch at the base;
  • reinforcement of an existing house on the landslide.

The implemented reinforcement ensured that the landslide was fully stabilised, and was integrated into the natural landscape by intense vegetalisation of the entire zone.

Terrasol’s achievements:

  • study of the landslide
  • design of a landslide stabilisation solution
  • production of the call for tender documents
  • consultations of contractors
  • la surveillance des travaux
  • works follow-up
